На Урале создают первый в России облегченный контейнер для сжиженных углеводородных газов

It will be useful for transporting and temporarily storing fuel

The Uralcryomash plant of the Uralvagonzavod concern (part of the Rostec State Corporation) together with Gazprom Helium Service LLC is working on the first Russian light-weight tank container for the transportation and temporary storage of liquefied petroleum gases. It will be used to transport uncooled liquefied gases from the Amur Gas Processing Plant to end consumers. These are propane, butane and their mixtures.

The KC-44/1.8 tank container is designed to be transported by road, water and rail without intermediate product transfer. In the future, the transportation of KC-44/1.8 will be carried out by Gazprom Helium Service's own LNG tractors, but a multimodal logistics scheme is also being considered.

Currently, Uralcryomash is manufacturing a prototype tank container at its base, which will undergo a full cycle of tests provided for by the rules of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS). Only after receiving a special certificate from the RMRS will it carry its first cargo.

The 40-foot container will have the following characteristics:

  • container weight — about 11 tons;
  • weight of transported products — about 18 tons;
  • geometric volume of the tank — 44 m3;
  • discharge and filling method – lower;
  • operating temperature range from -40°С to +50 °С.

Currently, Uralcryomash is among the leaders in the market of specialized equipment for the transportation and storage of liquefied petroleum gases and liquefied natural gas.

In particular, it recently developed special tank cars for transporting heavy fuel to the Vostochny Cosmodrome. They deliver naphthyl for space needs - this fuel, for example, was used for the launch of the first Angara-A5 heavy rocket from this cosmodrome.

The plant also created a special frost-resistant tank container for the transportation and temporary storage of liquefied gases: natural gas, nitrogen, oxygen, ethylene. The equipment functions properly at temperatures from -60°С to +50°С, and the time for non-drain storage of LNG in it is at least 80 days. Equipment similar to this container had not been produced in Russia before.
