Aurus premium cars will be produced at the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg with the support of an unnamed Chinese partner. This was announced to journalists by automotive industry experts. It is possible that this will be FAW, which produces premium cars under the Hongqi brand.
Partnership is possible only with a Chinese company, and it is difficult to say with whom specifically.
The fact is that Aurus and NAMI are under Western sanctions. That is why open cooperation with them may be undesirable for Chinese automakers.
The editor-in-chief of "Za Rulem" believes that FAW could become Aurus's Chinese partner.
The most likely, as I see it, could be the Hongqi brand, although collaborations with other manufacturers are not excluded
According to him, there is a possibility that, in addition to Aurus, Chinese premium cars will begin to be assembled at the plant in St. Petersburg.
Recall that production at the former Toyota plant is scheduled to begin before the end of this year. Currently, Aurus premium cars are assembled in Yelabuga. In 2023, 115 cars were made.
