Despite the lack of official confirmation of the exact date from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the agency had previously announced a solemn ceremony for the launch of these ships in May.

The small missile ship of Project 22800 is the smallest carrier of high-precision missile weapons (Kalibr), which serve as part of the Black Sea, Baltic Fleets and the Caspian Flotilla, successfully performing tasks of launching missile strikes against enemy coastal targets. The patrol ship Viktor Veliky of Project 22160 was developed by the Northern Design Bureau using a modular concept of armament.

The new ships belong to the third rank and have relatively small dimensions and displacement, which makes them mobile and flexible to use on inland waterways. Currently, the Russian Navy already includes four MRKs of Project 22800 Karakurt and at least three patrol ships of Project 22160 of the Vasily Bykov type. The last corvette of this project transferred to the Navy was Sergey Kotov — it was launched in 2021, and transferred to the military of the Black Sea Fleet in the summer of 2022.
