UAV from the Kalashnikov Concern is alongside American, Iranian, and Turkish drones on the list

The role of drones in combat operations has significantly increased in recent years. UAVs destroy armored vehicles and attack strongholds. The National Interest magazine named the "lethal five" — a top list of the most dangerous modern drones, which included the Kalashnikov-developed loitering munition (kamikaze drone) Lancet.

Characteristics of the Lancet kamikaze drone:

  • has two X-shaped wings
  • is powered by a two-bladed propeller
  • is made of plastic and composites
  • carries up to 3 kg of payload
  • take-off weight — up to 12 kg
  • flight range — up to 40 km
  • endurance - up to 40 minutes

The National Interest list also included the MQ-9 Reaper UAV (USA), the Mohajer-6 multi-purpose drone (Iran), the Bayraktar TB-2 operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (Turkey), and the Switchblade loitering munition (USA).

Earlier, Russian developers introduced AI into the Lancet, teaching the drone to recognize the enemy and attack.
