Floating NPP PEB-100: a new Rosatom project designed for export

At the exhibition within the XII International Meeting of High Representatives in St. Petersburg, Rosatom State Corporation presented its new project — a floating nuclear power plant (PEB) for the foreign market.

The station, known as PEB-100, has an electrical capacity of 100 megawatts and is equipped with two RITM-200M reactors. The floating station project is designed with a service life of up to 60 years, making it a long-term and sustainable solution for the energy needs of many countries. The displacement of the PEB is 16,680 tons, and the personnel required to operate it is 128 people. The operating temperature of the PEB-100 is in the range from -30°C to +45°C for air and from -2°C to +35°C for water. At the same time, the length of the power unit is 120 meters, the width is 32.4 meters, and the draft is 6 meters.

Currently, Rosatom operates the world's only floating nuclear combined heat and power plant in the city of Pevek in Chukotka. The Akademik Lomonosov station with the KLT-40S reactor unit is an outstanding achievement in the field of small nuclear energy and confirms Russia's leadership in this area.

Experts note that floating nuclear power units are a modern and environmentally friendly way to provide energy to remote and coastal areas. They have high reliability and predictable electricity tariffs, which makes them an attractive solution for many countries and regions.
