At a board meeting of the department, Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu stated that one of the main directions in the development of the Russian Aerospace Forces is equipping air defense (AD) and missile defense (MD) forces with advanced weaponry.
Currently, the proportion of modern models is 82%; in the next two years, this figure needs to be increased to 85%.
What weapons will enter the forces in 2024:
- S-500 SAM system in two versions (long-range and missile defense complexes)
- S-400, S-300V4, Buk-M3, Tor-M2U SAM systems
- New generation radar stations
According to the minister, a doubling of deliveries of the Pantsir SAM system is expected in 2024. With the help of this weapon, the Russian military will be able to cover important objects of the control system, strategic nuclear forces, and troop groups.
It was previously reported that the shipborne version of the Pantsir-M hit a British Storm Shadow missile.
