Roscosmos Gets the Right to Sell Satellite Images of Earth

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already signed the new law

Roscosmos has obtained the right to sell satellite images of Earth. The new law has already been signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In some cases, the data will be provided free of charge, at the discretion of the government. Earth images can be sold not only to individual consumers, but also to government authorities.

The document was published on the official legal information portal on April 22. It will come into force on January 1, 2025.

Currently, Earth remote sensing images can be obtained free of charge on the Roscosmos geoportal or in thematic social media groups.

The decisions made will have a positive impact on the development of the Russian rocket and space industry.

It was previously reported that Roscosmos will have a new source of funding for innovative space programs and projects: advertising on space infrastructure facilities.
