The first of the new Russian TOS-3 "Dragon" has been assembled. This name was registered as a trademark in early February 2024 by the "Omsk Transport Machine-Building Plant" (part of the Rostec Group). Prior to this, the plant produced TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" and TOS-2 "Tosochka" and did not publicly inform about work on a new generation of its heavy flamethrower systems.
Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of Rostec, spoke in an interview with TASS about the progress of work on the "Dragon" now. According to him, the first prototype of the "Dragon" has already been created on a tracked base: like the TOS-1A "Solntsepyok."
We are currently working on creating a new heavy flamethrower system TOS-3. The promising vehicle on a tracked base will be equipped with a new launcher. This will increase the firing range and use new ammunition.
Ozdoev did not mention when to expect mass production of the Russian "Dragons". He also did not mention whether other military equipment is currently being actively developed under the "Dragon" brand.
The fact is that when registering its "dragon" application with Rospatent, Omsktransmash indicated in the list of ICGS classes and goods and/or services a whole range of military products. These are military transport and military drones, armored vehicles, artillery guns [cannons], cannons, shells [weapons], ammunition and self-propelled guns.
