In Russia, amendments to the Air Code, which establish fines for flight delays, came into force on April 1. Airlines are obliged to pay passengers 100 rubles for each hour of delay. In total, the fine cannot exceed half the cost of the ticket.
How to Get Compensation
The passenger must write an application to the company, attaching the bank card details. The air carrier will consider the application, provided that the delay occurred through its fault. At the same time, the passenger will not receive payments if the flight was delayed due to bad weather conditions or the introduction of security measures.
What Experts Say
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov said that compensation of 100 rubles per hour will not be in demand among passengers. The procedure could be simplified by submitting an application in "one click" in the personal account on the carrier's website, he summarized.
