The former Hyundai and Toyota plants will maximize the localization of production, introducing domestic technologies and using components from Russian suppliers. This was stated by the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov.
We expect that the former Hyundai plant and the former Toyota plant in Shushary will immediately follow the path of maximum localization. There is no alternative to the revival of the St. Petersburg auto cluster.
The Governor considers it important to involve St. Petersburg and Russian designers in the work of enterprises. Beglov added that the city's automotive industry has coped with the consequences of Western sanctions.
Grandiose plans of the authorities of the Northern capital
The authorities of St. Petersburg want to return the volume of automotive production to the level of 2021 (360 thousand cars) by 2025.
