Russian authorities are striving to ensure technological sovereignty. As part of this policy, a pool of breakthrough mega-projects in critical industries will be launched from 2025.
At a meeting of cabinet members with the participation of President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov presented a list of 12 areas. These included "Machine Tool Building and Robotics", "New Materials and Chemistry", "Ensuring Food Security" and "New Medical Technologies".
An informed source named the remaining areas: "Development of unmanned aviation", "Development of the space industry", "Atom and new energy sources", "Production of ships and ship equipment", "Civil aviation", "Microelectronics", "Data economy", "Science and universities".
Russia has achieved particular success in a number of these areas thanks to the work of state corporations, including UAC (aviation), Rosatom (nuclear energy), and Roselectronika (microelectronics). Many private companies and large holdings that are part of the military-industrial complex are involved in the development of unmanned technology in the country. They are engaged in the creation and production of civilian UAVs (Geoscan) and military drones (Kalashnikov, Rostec).
The Ministry of Digital Development is working on projects in the field of economics, and the Ministry of Education and Science and large Russian universities are working on projects in the field of education.
