BelAZ has successfully tested a 240-ton mining dump truck with a modernized DAT-740M traction electric motor, developed by engineers from the "Plant of Transport Electrical Equipment" and the Advanced Engineering School "Motors of the Future".
Ruslan Khadzhaev, Chief Designer of the "Plant of Transport Electrical Equipment," stated that they were approached with a proposal to improve the traction asynchronous electric motor due to the departure of foreign companies Siemens and General Electric from the Russian market. He emphasized that such a serious task had to be solved in a short time.
There were many different design studies related to the factory technology for manufacturing DC electric motors
As a result, a prototype of the DAT-740M was sent to BelAZ for testing at the test site.
The largest American concern, General Motors, was the first to organize production in Russia and the first to leave the market due to sanctions. In April 2022, the company announced that it was laying off all employees in Russia. A similar decision was made by Siemens. By November 2022, the corporation had completely sold its Russian business.
