The Ministry of Transport has announced the expansion of the domestic automated passport control system (ASPC) "Sapsan", which is related to the verification of passenger biometric data. The system takes an average of 30 to 45 seconds to check a person's identity and documents at the Russian border.
The "GazIntech" development processes up to two thousand people per hour, operates around the clock, and speeds up border crossing sixfold. Currently, ASPC "Sapsan" modules can be found in Terminal C of Sheremetyevo International Airport.
When a passenger crosses the border, "Sapsan" automatically generates a decision on whether to allow the passenger to cross the state border of Russia and saves information about them.
The complex reads visual data and the chip in the passport with the authenticity of the passport, the passenger's boarding pass, and performs multi-factor verification of their identity. It can easily detect an attempt to falsify data: for example, by a mismatch of fingerprints or excessive liveliness of a person's face.
In addition, "Sapsan" will not allow two passengers to pass through the turnstile at the same time, or otherwise illegally cross the border.
In 2024, according to the Ministry of Transport, it is also planned to install ASPC "Sapsan" modules on the territory of checkpoints in the international airports of Vnukovo (Moscow) and Koltsovo (Yekaterinburg).
