Russian T-62M and T-62MV tanks, which were released to the Ministry of Defense in 2020, have undergone modernization at one of the repair enterprises. The video that appeared with them after the modernization online shows that they have become more protected and multifunctional - other innovations have been added to the guidance systems and mine plows.
The modernization added several tons of weight to them, but, according to "RG", more powerful engines appeared on the tanks, providing them with good mobility characteristics. Also, the tankers got anti-drone screens with camouflage nets and a set of electronic warfare systems against kamikaze drones.
Dynamic protection is installed on the frontal part of the hull and sides, and on the T-62MV it is also installed on the turrets. The modernized T-62Ms also have their own differences: they have special bulldozer equipment. Thanks to it, tanks can be used to create shelters, make passages in blockages, fill ditches, push damaged equipment off the road and other tasks unusual for it.
Also, both tank models received 1PN96MT-02 thermal sights, allowing them to detect and destroy various targets at night.
Earlier it became known that Uralvagonzavod will increase the production of boosted diesel tank engines V-92S2 several times. They are the main engines for tanks in the Russian army.
