Engineers from the High-Precision Systems holding (part of Rostec) together with representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense are developing the design of a promising universal platform for the "Manul" infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), the company's press service announced at the World Defense Show 2024 defense forum in Saudi Arabia.
The holding emphasized that development is not ceasing, despite the increased workload in fulfilling the defense order. It is noted that the "Manul" IFV will receive a powerful UTD-32T turbocharged engine.
The infantry fighting vehicle was developed by specialists from Kurganmashzavod. It was first shown at the "Army" forum in 2020.
"Manul" differs from the BMP-3 in the front location of the engine-transmission compartment. At the same time, their components are unified, which reduces costs at the development stage. It is expected that the newest IFV will become a platform for installing various weapons systems.
According to Rostec, the combat vehicle can be equipped with the "Epoch" combat module with 57 mm caliber ammunition. At the same time, the IFV's mobility on the water is provided by two water jet propellers. The speed of the "Manul" afloat will not exceed 10 km/h.
Earlier, High-Precision Systems presented a hardware and software complex for robotizing the "Prometheus" IFV.
