In Severodvinsk, at Sevmash, which is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), a solemn ceremony was held to roll out the nuclear submarine "Knyaz Pozharsky" of the "Borei-A" project from the boathouse, developed by CDBMT "Rubin", which is also part of the USC. Earlier, insiders said that the cruiser will be launched at the end of this January.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy congratulated the shipbuilders and designers on the completion of the slipway construction period of the fourth serial ship of the modernized project. Admiral Nikolai Evmenov noted that the new nuclear submarine cruiser embodies advanced technologies and experience of domestic submarine shipbuilding, which allows Russia to keep pace with scientific and technological progress, and even surpass it in a number of areas.
The cruiser is armed with Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles. It is equipped with modern navigation and radio equipment. Each ship of the project is serial and unique. The experience of operating previous ships is used in production.
After being rolled out of the boathouse, the cruiser will undergo factory and state tests before taking its place in the ranks of the Russian Navy. Sevmash has already built and handed over three Borei-class nuclear submarines to the Navy ("Yuri Dolgoruky", "Alexander Nevsky" and "Vladimir Monomakh") and four Borei-A-class nuclear submarines ("Knyaz Vladimir", "Knyaz Oleg", "Generalissimus Suvorov", "Emperor Alexander III"). "Dmitry Donskoy" and "Knyaz Potemkin" are also at different stages of construction at the Sevmash plant.
