More than 95% of all workplaces in the division have been transferred to the import-independent Astra Linux operating system

Rosenergoatom Concern (part of Rosatom Group's electric power division) has reported on its work towards technological independence. In 2023, the concern transferred more than 95% of all user workstations in the division to the import-independent Astra Linux operating system. Prior to this, the authorities of Tatarstan were transferred to it.

In addition, in 2023, the company developed and implemented three domestic trusted hardware and software complexes. In particular, a complex for implementing a private cloud, which made it possible to increase the efficiency of infrastructure operation, dynamically distribute the load between services, reduce the risk of downtime, and speed up the deployment of new applications. It runs on a thousand domestic «Bobr» computers based on «Baikal» processors. They were distributed to the Central Office and nuclear power plants and tested, and more than fifty percent of them have already been installed on site and connected to the complex.

Rosenergoatom pays special attention to improving and modernizing information security systems. In 2023, the modernization of the inter-network screening system was completed at 11 nuclear power plants and in the central office, which made it possible to update the equipment fleet (more than 40 units of equipment were replaced), increase its performance, and ensure a high level of security for the external and internal perimeters of the network infrastructure against computer attacks. The implementation of a virtualization protection system was organized at nine nuclear power plants with a transition to import-substituted virtualization management solutions. The system has been designed and implemented, and the industrial migration of more than 900 virtual servers of nuclear power plant information systems is being completed.

It is noted that security experts assessed and documented "a high level of compliance with federal and industry information security requirements in the concern".

But the most important digitalization project of the concern is TOREX. This is a unique internal system that covers all vital processes related to the operation of nuclear power plants: operational operation, maintenance and repairs, engineering support, resource management and documentation. In October 2023, it was successfully launched into commercial operation at five pilot stations: Balakovo, Beloyarsk, Kola, Rostov and Smolensk.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development reminded that Russian state corporations have less than a year to switch to domestic software. The same applies to companies with state participation.
