All newly constructed apartment buildings in Russia may be required to install "smart meters" for water, gas, heat, and electricity. This concerns changes to government decree № 719.
The initiative was proposed as part of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation's project "Smart Apartment Building," sources reported. Its goal is to develop a unified approach to digitalization. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation stated that the implementation of "smart meters" is planned to be carried out in stages.
In Russia, "smart meters" have been installed in homes since July 1, 2020. These devices measure resource consumption and transmit the readings to a remote server. Thanks to this, users do not have to take readings and report them by phone. Access to the data on the server can be obtained by the meter owners, as well as representatives of the management company.
