Invulnerable to enemy drones and artillery - how Russian tankers improved the T-72B3M

During the modernization, the tank became several tons heavier, but did not become less maneuverable

The modernized T-72B3M tanks recently shown by the Russian Ministry of Defense during training received a new update - enhanced protection against kamikaze drones and artillery. The field modification from the tankers made the T-72B3M almost invulnerable.

The tank became several tons heavier after the modernization. Appeared:

  • lattice screens with dynamic protection elements around the entire perimeter of the hull;
  • additional armor plates on the sides of the tank;
  • additional armor plates on the sides of the tank;
  • steel chains on the chase between the turret and the hull, which dissipate the cumulative jet upon impact
  • a new anti-drone dome on the tank turret;
  • additional dynamic protection and armor plates on the frontal projection and the driver's seat.

Also, a homemade mine trawl with a protective screen for the bottom can now be installed on the front of the tank.

This did not particularly affect the speed - it remains more than 60 kilometers per hour.
