The first months of 2024 will be a difficult time for major Russian car dealers - warehouses have accumulated the maximum volume of cars in the last two years. There are many popular Chinese Chery, Exeed and Haval, and there are enough Russian cars.
According to Nikolai Ivanov, Sales Director of Rolf, the largest Russian car dealer, his company has 4,520 new cars in stock. In early 2022, there were 4,266, and in 2023 - 4,339. Other market participants, such as Avtodom Group and BN-Motors, have also confirmed the maximum number of new car stocks since February 2022.
But for Avilon, car stocks in warehouses are not a cause for concern. They do not cause any major visible damage to themselves or importers. However, representatives of this dealer note that with all the abundance of colors, brands and configurations, there is still a shortage of some models in various market segments.
Expert opinion on the situation in the Russian car market as a whole is that in 2024 the market volume will grow to 1.2-1.4 million cars. This will be facilitated to varying degrees by the growth of imports of passenger cars from China, the resumption of a number of large car factories, a possible decrease in the key rate and the stability of exchange rates.
Against this background, some cars will become more affordable - due to localization in Russia, some will obviously try to dump, following the example of some Chery models in the last quarter of 2023.
