The light multi-purpose Ka-226T from Russian Helicopters became the first helicopter to reach Kolyma and successfully overcome all the tests there. The helicopter-transformer showed its work in difficult conditions.
The helicopter is interesting because various modules can be attached to the base unit - cargo, ambulance, search and rescue, passenger, agricultural, or a unit for aviation and chemical work. The agricultural module, however, is still under development. Replacing one such block takes only half an hour - and this feature was also tested on the Kolyma land.
If necessary, this machine can be equipped with oxygen equipment, an emergency landing system and other necessary components.
The Ka-226T's maneuverability, rate of climb, resistance to crosswinds and ability to land on modestly sized platforms are provided by a coaxial scheme. After a recent upgrade, the helicopter can climb up to 6,500 meters above sea level.
It also acquired a crash-resistant fuel system and a new complex of flight and navigation and radio communication equipment. A new stage of development awaits the Ka-226T soon - its original French Turbomeca Arrius 2G1 engine will be replaced with the domestic VK-650V from UEC.
