Alexey Sheremet, a graduate student at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), has been developing a maneuverable rotary drone for studying Venus since 2020. The aircraft will be able to move above the planet's surface and land.
The drone's rotor system will provide maneuverability and the ability to avoid obstacles
The drone's task is to take pictures of the surface and create a map of the Venusian terrain. Using sensors to measure temperature and pressure, the device will be able to study the planet's gas composition and climatic conditions.
Sheremet admitted that he was inspired to create the drone by the NASA Ingenuity helicopter, which was launched to Mars on a research mission. The MAI graduate student's development was recognized at the international conference "Aviation and Cosmonautics", as well as at the Gagarin and Korolev readings.
Earlier it was reported that NPO Lavochkina is developing the "Boomerang" project, which involves a flight to Mars' moon Phobos to collect samples.
