US Military Command Alarmed by "Pike-B" Nuclear Submarines Refitted for "Caliber"

The "Pike-B" SSNs, which have been in service for almost 40 years, operate effectively in the World Ocean

Soviet "Pike-B" nuclear submarines, although in service since 1985, effectively perform their tasks in the World Ocean. This is causing serious concern to the US Navy command, The National Interest wrote.

For the first time, the "Pike-B" shocked the United States when it joined the Pacific Fleet. Then Western intelligence claimed that the USSR would not have third-generation submarine technologies for at least 10 years, but miscalculated.

From the point of view of armament, the "Pike-B" is very formidable. Each submarine was designed to carry S-10 "Granat" cruise missiles. The S-10 "Granat" is comparable to the American "Tomahawk"

The nuclear submarine has a strong hull and a powerful power plant, allowing it to make long voyages, diving to a depth of up to 600 m. In terms of these characteristics, the "Pike-B" surpasses the American Los-Angeles-class submarines.

But even more impressive is the submarine's armament. The current ships of this project are equipped with "Caliber-PL" missiles. The firepower of the "Pike-B" was also added by 8 torpedo tubes of various calibers.

The submarine's crew can monitor objects using the surface search radar and the MGK-540 sonar system, which automatically identifies targets.

Earlier it was reported that USC enterprises are building three "Borei-A" project submarines: "Dmitry Donskoy", "Knyaz Potemkin" and "Knyaz Pozharsky". The latter, according to insiders, is ready to leave the slipways at the end of this month.
