The Kalashnikov concern announced a significant increase in the production of its sniper rifles. At the end of 2023, the state defense order for them increased 8 times in a year compared to 2022.
7.62-mm Dragunov sniper rifles with folding stock (SVDS) and 7.62-mm SV-98 sniper rifles, as well as Dragunov sniper rifles (SVD), were purchased under the contract as part of the state defense order. Finally, at the end of last year, serial production and shipment to the customer of the first Chukavin sniper rifles (SVCh) began.
The SVCh has improved ergonomics and accuracy of fire, as well as its own low-noise firing device, which increases the stealth of the shooter. In addition, this rifle can be used with sighting systems of Russian and foreign production.
The state defense order in Russia in 2023 increased not only for sniper rifles. For example, UAC said that it doubled only for the Su-57, the Russian fifth-generation multi-role fighter. Production volumes have also increased at Uralvagonzavod, which assembles, in particular, T-90M "Proryv" and T-72B3M tanks.
