The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia intends to oblige electronics stores to allocate space for Russian goods, market participants said. According to one source, major marketplaces are entering into agreements with Russian electronics manufacturers to place their products.
It is possible that trading platforms will be required to have a minimum share in the assortment for goods from Russian manufacturers.
A bill on the "Russian shelf" was developed by deputies from United Russia. The document, among other things, obliges marketplaces to give the first 50 lines of search results to Russian goods. If adopted, the law will come into force in March 2024.
According to Viktor Evtukhov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the bill does not mention specific product groups, and quotas will be determined by experts.
Currently, Russian goods are mainly represented in the category of large household appliances. This includes refrigerators, washing machines, and gas stoves.
Earlier it was reported that Yandex Market started cooperating with foreign stores from Asia and the EAEU countries. They mainly offer electronics and household goods.
