Russian authorities plan to equip 31 airports in the country with drone detection and countermeasure equipment, said Sergey Martynenko, Head of the Airspace Management Organization Department of Rosaviatsiya, during a press conference before the start of the "Digital Transportation" forum on December 19.
According to him, ensuring the safety of air harbors corresponds to the federal project for the development of aviation infrastructure and the creation of a UAS certification system. Rosaviatsiya will begin its implementation next year.
Martynenko did not specify which airports would be affected by this program. But, apparently, we are talking about the two capitals - Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as airports in the south of Russia and million-plus cities.
Earlier www1.ru wrote about the developments of engineers at the Research Institute "Vector", which will help protect airports from birds and drones. The modification of the ORNI complex, named "Chaika", recognizes drones in the airspace and transmits data to the drone suppression system. The information is also sent to the operator's console of the dispatch service.
