Employees of the St. Petersburg Research Institute "Vector" (part of Roselectronica) and "LETI" are developing a modification of the ORNI ornithological complex - the "Chaika" system, which will protect Russian airports from birds and drones, the Rostec press service reported.
Experts have created software that will allow "Chaika" to determine the direction, altitude, and speed of birds' flight. The development is also capable of "seeing" unmanned aerial vehicles in the airspace. When an unwanted object is detected, the system interfaces with drone suppression devices. In addition, monitoring data will be sent to the operator at the control point.
It is expected that "Chaika" will be able to operate automatically and will not require additional settings. As explained in the press service of the state corporation, due to the absence of radiation, the complex does not interfere with the operation of communication systems and flight support of aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that specialists from the Central Research Institute "Cyclone" have developed a portable anti-drone complex "Chistyulya".
