The Nuclear Regulatory Agency of Turkey has issued Rosatom a permit to commission the first power unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Mersin, the state corporation said.
According to Anastasia Zoteeva, head of Akkuyu Nuclear, this means that Rosatom has fulfilled all the requirements of the republic's legislation relating to the construction of the NPP.

Next, the company plans to obtain a license to operate the first power unit. If this document is available, Russian specialists will be able to load nuclear fuel into the reactor and begin pre-start-up operations. Akkuyu Nuclear is currently preparing technical documentation for the power unit in order to obtain a license.
Earlier, Rosatom delivered five nuclear reactor vessels to Turkey. Shipment was carried out from Volgodonsk. It was also reported that equipment for nuclear fuel reloading was sent to the NPP, it was transported in parts.
