«Яндекс» удвоит численность роботов-курьеров к 2024 году

The IT Giant Will Expand Its Fleet of Delivery Robots to 260 Units

The Russian technology company "Yandex" has announced plans to double the number of robot couriers by 2024. Currently, there are 130 of them.

In addition, "Yandex" intends to lease robots to other companies for delivering goods up to 2 km. The developer undertakes the production, warranty service, and technical support of autonomous devices, as well as providing accurate maps for navigation.

Where Robot Couriers Will Appear

Negotiations are currently underway to lease delivery robots to chain retailers and catering establishments. "Yandex" believes that 15 such couriers are sufficient to ensure the delivery of goods in an area with 5,000 residents.

It is expected that by 2025, the cost of delivery will decrease to the average market price. To achieve this, it is necessary to load the rollers with orders at 80% of their current capacity, which is up to 15 orders per day.

Difficulties with Weather Conditions

Recently, many videos have appeared online showing delivery robots stuck in the snow. Against the backdrop of worsening weather, "Yandex" has distributed instructions that will be useful for those wishing to rescue smart technology from the snowy captivity.

Passersby are advised to make sure that the wheels are not blocked. If the snow prevents the autonomous device from moving further, you need to wait until they are unlocked. After that, the roller can be gently pushed so that it can move.

The company's press service noted that delivery robots were launched on routes in October. In the autumn, there were no problems with their operation due to favorable weather conditions.

Earlier it was reported that "Yandex" created two robots to work in the warehouses of large marketplaces. The equipment works at any temperature several times faster than a human.
