Россия показала, какими будут Российская орбитальная станция и ее коммерческие модули

The presentation of the unique multi-module station was held at Dubai Airshow 2023

Russia showed at Dubai Airshow 2023 what the Russian Orbital Station and its commercial modules will look like. Commercial modules may vary in content and design, but the basic components are the same.

The architecture of the ROS is unique. It allows you to create an almost unlimited number of modules for different tasks and users<br>

Each module can be either integrated into the main structure of the station or fly separately. A free-flying module will provide additional autonomy and "the possibility of obtaining conditions close to deep space in terms of gravity, vacuum and the absence of additional noise and vibration".

Inside the commercial module there will be:

  • cabins for crew accommodation;
  • panoramic circular view windows;
  • crew lounge area for astronauts to relax;
  • cooking and eating area for astronauts;
  • workplaces with crew support equipment for long-term space expeditions;
  • service compartment for housing onboard systems that perform the module's service functions;
  • additional storage space for payloads.

Russian Orbital Station

When creating the ROS, Rosatom technologies will be used, and the station itself will become a testing ground for various experiments. With its help, fundamental and applied problems in artificial intelligence, cosmology, laser physics, supercomputer modeling and experimental astrophysics will be solved.

The first ROS module will be launched to the ISS in two years. In eight years, by 2032, it will be fully ready.

The ROS will differ from the ISS not only in its technical content, but also in its polar orbit, which will provide an overview of the entire Russian territory. Now, from the ISS, astronauts can see only 15% of the Russian land. But this is not enough for the development of science and technology, and for security.

You can also see the project of the Russian Orbital Station in Moscow. It is currently exhibited together with other Russian space developments at the International Exhibition "Russia" in the thematic pavilion of VDNH.

The Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics has also become more accessible for viewing. It participates in the Moscow Museum Week.

According to the terms of the promotion, admission is free there on Thursday of every third week of the month. The nearest Moscow Museum Weeks:

  • from November 13 to 19, 2023;
  • from December 11 to 17, 2023.
