At the Army-2023 forum, which is taking place in the Moscow region, the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, the National Center for Physics and Mathematics, and Rusatom RDS concluded an agreement on strategic partnership for the Russian Orbital Station (ROS).
Rosatom technologies will be used in the creation of the ROS, and the station itself will become a testing ground for various experiments: it will be used to solve fundamental and applied problems in artificial intelligence, cosmology, laser physics, supercomputer modeling, and experimental astrophysics.
Nuclear technologies have always developed alongside space technologies. We are continuing this tradition, and it is important for us that the formation of the new space station takes place with Rosatom technologies. With the National Center for Physics and Mathematics and Rusatom RDS JSC, we plan to implement joint projects using the capabilities of the Russian Orbital Station, which is quite different from the ISS. It will enter a different orbit, and with its help we will get more opportunities to observe the Earth in conditions close to deep space. Our station is the next step in the use of space. We have many applied tasks ahead of us: from testing new space and nuclear technologies to production in space.
As a reminder, the launch of the first module of the Russian Orbital Station – the scientific and energy module – is planned for the end of 2027. ROS should acquire its final configuration of five modules by 2030.
