Russian Armed Forces servicemen have been using the newest heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 or, as it is affectionately called in the army, 'Tosochka'. The weapon, which is considered more compact than 'Solntsepek' (TOS-1A 'Solntsepek' - note of the editorial office www1.ru ) and 'Buratino' (Soviet development of TOS-1), is based on a three-axle wheeled chassis. Thanks to this, TOS-2 has improved off-road capability.

Among the important characteristics of 'Tosochka' are increased shooting range, automation of targeting and fire control. In addition, TOS-2 is equipped with a crane manipulator, therefore it does not need a charging machine.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, thermobaric shells covering an area of 6 hectares have been developed for the TOS-2. But in their absence, the flamethrower can be charged with ammunition from the 'Solntsepek'.

'Tosochka' has received high ratings from radiation and biological protection troops specialists. The flamethrower system effectively eliminates live force, fortified positions, lightly armored equipment and enemy transport.

TOS-2 was first presented in 2020 at the 'Caucasus' exercises. The flamethrower is being developed by enterprises belonging to Rostec.
