The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has handed over an Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft, assembled at the Ulyanovsk aircraft factory, to the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The Il-76MD-90A aircraft is a modernized version of the Il-76MD and is assembled from Russian-made components. The aircraft is designed to transport paratroopers, military equipment, and heavy cargo.
According to Sergey Sheremetov, director of the "Il" PJSC branch - Aviastar, the Il-76MD-90A has joined the air regiment of military transport aviation (VTA). The Ulyanovsk plant is fulfilling its obligations to build aircraft under the 2023 program. Sheremetov recalled that the need to increase the fleet of military transport aircraft was previously mentioned by the head of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu.
According to the "Technosphere Russia" publication, UAC has already handed over the third Il-76MD-90A in 2023. It is emphasized that such transport aircraft are in high demand for the Airborne Forces. They solve the tasks of rapid transportation of troops and light equipment. After the upgrade, the Il-76MD-90A received a new engine, an improved wing, and a "glass cockpit". Engineers have increased its carrying capacity.
One of the SSJ-100 aircraft of the "Russia" airline received a special livery. The owner of the distinctive sign in the form of a golden deer, the original figure of which is stored in the Hermitage, became the aircraft RA-89171, named after the city of Kaluga.
A branch of the Hermitage is planned to open in Kaluga in 2024. The special livery of the aircraft became the embodiment of the unity of progress, history and art.
