A source from RIA Novosti in the defense industry reported that the latest unified RDG-U smoke grenade has entered service with the Russian army.
State tests of the grenade were completed in February of this year, and in July, the interdepartmental commission approved the working design documentation. And now it has come to deliveries to the armed forces.
RDG-U provides camouflage for personnel and equipment from guided missiles with infrared guidance and high-precision weapons with thermal imaging targeting systems. It implements a combined principle of operation – the smoke-forming composition quickly creates a smoke screen in the air, and a smoldering element feeds the screen for a long time. The grenade remains operational in the temperature range from -50 to +55 °С.
