At the International Railway Salon of Technology and Equipment in St. Petersburg, Transmashholding presented the new electric train "Ivolga 4.0" for the first time, designed for the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD).
The new model has a number of significant differences from the current ones that already run on the MCD. Thus, the "Ivolga 4.0" train is 98% composed of domestic components, which are supplied by more than 600 enterprises. Previously released "Ivolgas" used Traktionssysteme Austria electric motors, but now they have been replaced by Russian units. Interestingly, replacing the Austrian engine with a Russian one made it possible to increase the maximum speed from 120 to 160 km/h. However, the control software is also now Russian – the increase in speed is partly due to this as well.
There are more doors in the train cars, which simplifies the entry and exit of passengers: in all cars, except for the head cars, there are now three doors instead of two. Areas for charging electric scooters and bicycle parking have been preserved, tables with wireless chargers for telephones have appeared, as well as USB-C and USB-A ports for charging gadgets with a wire.
