At the International Railway Equipment and Technology Salon in Saint Petersburg, Transmashholding demonstrated a new electric train 'Ivolga 4.0' for the first time, intended for Moscow's central diameters (MCD).

The new model has a number of significant differences from current ones – those that already operate on the MCD. For example, the train 'Ivolga 4.0' is made up of 98% domestic components, supplied by more than 600 companies. In previously released 'Ivolgas', Traktionssysteme Austria engines were used, now they are replaced by Russian units. Interestingly, replacing the Austrian engine with a Russian one allowed to increase the maximum speed from 120 to 160 km/h. Moreover, the controlling software is now Russian – partly the speed increase is related to this.

The train carriages now have more doors, simplifying the entry and exit of passengers: all carriages, except the leading ones, now have three doors instead of two. Areas for charging electric scooters and bike parking are retained, tables with wireless phone chargers have been added, along with USB-C and USB-A ports for wired gadget charging.
