At the Army-2023 forum, which is currently taking place in the Moscow region, Kalashnikov presented the short-barreled AK-19 rifle. The compact version of AK-19, of course, became lighter than the regular version. It is also more ergonomic and easier to operate.
The updated rifle got a new grip, a new sight (one position is for shooting at the direct shot distance, the second - for shooting at a longer distance), a new forearm (this made the rifle stronger and more ergonomic). Another feature is a non-removable flame arrestor-compensator. The weight of the updated rifle is 3 kg.
AK-19, created based on AK-12, is designed for a 5.56 mm NATO cartridge. The rifle is equipped with Picatinny rails, allowing the use of various attached equipment, and a telescopic stock. AK-19 also has a diopter sight and a quick-detachable device for silent and flameless shooting.
