Yandex announced the launch of a number identifier in messengers WhatsApp and Viber, the new feature is primarily intended for fight against fraudsters.
The automatic number identifier in the 'Yandex with Alice' app has learned to warn users about unwanted calls in messengers. Yandex analysts note that spammers and scammers are harassing people through messengers more and more often, and the number of complaints about this is growing. The new identifier feature is already working on iOS and Android in WhatsApp and Viber.
When an incoming call comes through the messenger, the user will receive a message about the suspected purpose of the call from an unknown number: the identifier warns of both negative and useful calls.
When you turn on the phone number identifier in iOS, incoming call prompts in messengers are activated automatically. In Android, you need to turn on the new feature in the 'Yandex with Alice' app settings using the 'Identify messenger calls' item and allow access to notifications. The identifier only accesses the call notifications in the messengers.
