Deputy head of Russian Railways Dmitry Pegov in an interview with RIA Novosti explained how, after Siemens left the country, the maintenance of "Swallow" and "Sapsan" trains is carried out.
"Maintenance is all good. Initially, a Russian company supervised by Siemens was in charge. Today all the Siemens technical personnel servicing trains have been transferred to a new domestic company. They continue to perform the same functions. There are no problems at all. We continue working and cope with all tasks", - said Dmitry Pegov.
He also reminded that the service life of "Sapsans" is 30 years. "We only need to replace consumables: wheelsets, solid-rolled wheels, some components from the current collector, oils, lubricants, and bearings. But, first of all, the stock of these elements for the first batch was almost 30 years ahead. They were stored in warehouses, and we are now using them", - he said.
