Static dischargers on airplanes are the main tool in combating the accumulation of static electricity on the surface of the aircraft. Dischargers help the accumulated static charge drain into the atmosphere. On airplanes, dischargers are installed on the wingtips, elevators, and ailerons.
Structurally, it is a simple product, the main element of which is a coronating electrode, made in the form of a bundle or point of electrodes.
A Superjet technician noted that the domestic SSJ-100 also has groups of static dischargers. In general, there is nothing special about them, except for one point, which concerns the list of deviations in the configuration.
Dischargers on the vertical tail of the SSJ-100 aircraft
The absence or damage of one discharger is allowed, and only on the rudder. This is not allowed on other elements. Everything is quite simple, there are 3 dischargers on the rudder, respectively, if one is missing, a safe flight can be made with the remaining two.
On other elements: ailerons, elevator, there are two dischargers each, so it is impossible to fly with one single discharger in case of damage.
Dischargers on the wing
In his opinion, if one more discharger were additionally installed on the elements, it would be possible to increase the intensity of operation due to the possibility of operation in case of damage or absence of a discharger on these elements.
However, the designers only thought about this on the rudder. The specialist admitted that there was no point in putting more, based on the design. Safety requirements are met, and putting more means more expensive, although I don't think they are very expensive, given their simple design.
How is it on the SSJ-100?
The technician added that the decision probably came from testing, and exactly that amount was necessary, and no one thought about the list of deviations in the configuration at that moment.
That is, after testing the already designed aircraft, decisions were made regarding deviations.
Earlier www1.ru reported that deliveries of parts for Superjets will increase by 2.5 times.
