Retired Colonel Viktor Baranets spoke about which points of the SAP were successfully implemented.
In total, the program cost 20 trillion rubles, of which 19 were intended for the purchase, repair and development of weapons and military equipment. And the remaining trillion - for infrastructure for incoming equipment.
Powerful rearmament
Then the priority was the development of strategic nuclear deterrence forces. The Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) began to receive the latest Sarmat and Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missiles. It was planned to update strategic missile systems - replacing Topols with modern Yars.
Special emphasis was placed on equipping troops with high-precision air, ground and sea-based weapons, personal protective equipment for military personnel, unmanned aerial systems, the latest intelligence, electronic warfare and communications systems.
It was in that program that the S-500 system, the Zircon hypersonic missile, and the completion of work on equipment on the Armat, Kurganets and Boomerang platforms were mentioned. About the supply of new T-90M tanks and tests of deeply modernized T-80BVMs. It was in it that the adoption of the latest Su-57 and MiG-35 fighters, the modernization of Tu-95MS, Tu-160M and Tu-22M3 bombers and the creation of a promising Long-Range Aviation complex (PAK DA) were planned.
5% of expenses were allocated to the Strategic Missile Forces, it was planned to purchase 270-280 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles.
In general, it turned out to be "insightful": it predicted what weapons our army would need. First of all, this concerns the long-range hypersonic missiles "Kinzhal", "Caliber", "Zircon". The newest medium-range missile "Oreshnik" was also successfully tested.
In addition, in the SAP until 2027, a course was taken to promptly modernize T-90M and T-72BMV tanks. The attitude towards the Terminator tank support fighting vehicle (BMPT), which was mainly exported, was radically revised. The Tosochka heavy flamethrower system and the Koalitsiya self-propelled artillery unit turned out to be "prophetically necessary" for the troops.
Mistakes happened
At the same time, the developers of the current SAP also made mistakes. Stocks of field uniforms for troops were not created in full in advance. There was a shortage of strike drones, communications equipment and artillery reconnaissance, Baranets noted.
