In 2025, Russia produces about 100 Geran kamikaze drones a day, which is 4-5 times more than the volume of UAVs of this type produced last year. Consequently, Moscow has overcome Western sanctions pressure. This is written by The Economist.
According to the publication, citing a knowledgeable source, Russia plans to increase the production of "Geraniums" to 500 pieces per day.
Along with the "Geraniums", Russia also produces more decoy drones. The military personnel of the Armed Forces of Russia have resumed the use of Kh-22 cruise missiles; consequently, they managed to compensate for the previously existing deficit.
According to a CNN report, drones are produced in Tatarstan. It is alleged that from January to September 2024, 5,760 kamikaze drones were produced here. And this is twice as much as in 2023.
Russia follows the paradigm of the Soviet era, where state-controlled enterprises establish mass production. This strategy allows Moscow to quickly increase the production of products.
The increase in the production of "Geraniums" is associated with the help of China. Allegedly, the ally supplies critical materials and equipment to about 20 Russian factories.
Chinese authorities reject all accusations, calling them unfounded. Experts say that Russia has found ways to purchase some of the equipment it needs, and has also established its own production of missing components.
