The "Bars" Research and Production Center (RPC) for the production of unmanned aerial systems will be created in Tatarstan on the basis of the Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev (KNITU-KAI). The project cost will be 2.5 billion rubles, which will be allocated from the federal budget.
The "Bars" RPC will include a training center for pilots, a certification center, a laboratory and research complex for testing, and a flight test center with production facilities. A promising area will also be a situation center for tracking UAV flights. Residents of "Bars" will be able to implement large industry projects and create components for UAS.
The only Rosaviation-accredited laboratory of KNITU-KAI will also house a certification center for UAS. This will strengthen Tatarstan's position in the aviation sector and bring the university closer to leading research institutes in Russia, increasing confidence in developments and opening new horizons for cooperation.
On the basis of "Bars", KNITU-KAI, together with key residents such as Innopolis, Enix, Aerokon, will be able to realize their full potential: from research and development to mass production of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The construction of the RPC is planned for the second half of 2025. In total, there will be 12 such full-cycle RPCs in Russia, and the total number of RPCs for the development of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles will reach 48.
Earlier it became known that the production of civilian drones in Russia has slowed down. Experts warned that if the situation is not changed, Russia will face social and production problems in the future.
