The Iranian Air Force has received a batch of Russian Su-35 generation 4++ fighters. The Israelis and Americans can handle this aircraft, but if Iran buys the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, "it will be a different matter." This opinion was expressed by military expert Brandon J. Weichert in an article for The National Interest.
Although there are aviation systems that can likely withstand the Su-57. These include the Israeli version of the Lockheed Martin F-35I Adir fifth-generation combat aircraft. There are fewer "birds" in Western arsenals that could defend against the Su-57.
If Russia sells the Su-57 to Iran, it will complicate Israel's task of striking nuclear facilities. But it seems that Moscow does not have such a goal, the military expert concluded.
Su-57 characteristics:
- Length — 19.7 m
- Height — 4.8 m
- Wingspan — 14 m
- Empty aircraft weight — 18,500 kg
- Maximum take-off weight — 35,500 kg
- Combat load — 10,000 kg
- Practical ceiling — 20,000 m
- Speed — 2100 km/h
