The Russian multi-role fifth-generation fighter Su-57 (developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau) accelerated on a short runway and soared into the sky in 11-12 seconds. This is reported by Bulgarian Military.
The Su-57's takeoff was filmed on the eve of the international exhibition Aero India 2025, which opens on February 10.
The Su-57 took off from a "short position" in approximately 11-12 seconds. This confirms significant progress in the capabilities of the fighter, equipped with the AL-41F1 engine.
According to the publication, most modern fighters accelerate before takeoff in 15-25 seconds. The time depends on the length of the runway, engine thrust, and aircraft payload.
In 12 seconds, the Su-57 should have accelerated to a takeoff speed of 250-280 km/h. It is likely that the pilot used afterburners or the fighter had a minimal load.
According to the author of Bulgarian Military, the American F-35 fighter would take off in 20-25 seconds under the same conditions, the F-22 Raptor - in 15-20 seconds, the Chinese J-20 - in 20-25 seconds. The French Dassault Rafale aircraft would take a similar amount of time.
