Кокон горячей плазмы: раскрыт принцип работы российской ракеты «Орешник»

Military Expert Gundarov: The "Oreshnik" Warhead is Protected by a Hot Plasma Cocoon

Footage of the use of the Russian medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" allows us to assess the principle of its operation. Military expert Vladimir Gundarov noted that just before the moment of impact, a flash is visible in the video above the clouds, after which luminous objects fall to the ground.

According to him, the separation of the warhead occurs at this moment. The configuration of the separating parts of the warhead in such missiles is such that the elements separate one after another.

By the time it reaches orbital altitude, the missile accelerates to 11 Mach and from there heads towards the target in a cocoon of hot plasma - this is additional natural protection for such warheads. It is quite obvious that, overcoming the Earth's atmosphere, the block loses speed, but still remains invulnerable to anti-aircraft missiles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the "Oreshnik" warheads attack targets at speeds of up to 10 Mach or about 3 km/s at a range of up to 5500 km, and Western missile defense systems do not have the ability to intercept them.
