Mi-8MTV military transport helicopters, Mi-35M attack transport helicopters, as well as Mi-28N and Ka-52M reconnaissance attack helicopters have begun to be equipped with Rychag-AV individual electronic warfare systems. Previously, the stations were mainly placed on specialized Mi-8MTPR-1 EW helicopters, said military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
He recalled that the technical capabilities of the complex cover the frequency ranges of radar detectors and target designation of most modern anti-aircraft missile systems, including AN/MPQ-64F1, AN/MPQ-53/65, TRML-4D and others.
The flat radiating phased array antenna will be able to suppress the transmitting and receiving paths of active homing heads of various missiles, for example, AIM-120D and MBDA "Meteor".
At the same time, the analyst warned about the need to develop radar traps-simulators of onboard electronic warfare systems, since modern active-passive homing heads have a passive mode of direction finding of sources of interference radiation.
The Rychag-AV complex is capable of detecting the radiation of enemy electronic warfare equipment and analyzing it. Then the system can determine the type of target and independently select the most effective type of interference in this situation. Thus, the complex can adapt to the situation and use the most appropriate interference in this case.
Thus, being in the air for up to two and a half hours, the jamming system continuously suppresses up to eight radars. As a result, the radars refuse to work, literally going crazy, guided aerial bombs and cruise missiles suddenly change their course, drones suddenly fall. This makes it possible to protect primarily their aircraft from radars at a range of about 150 km.
