The Indian Ministry of Defense has published a request for information on the development of specialized "anti-drone" 23 mm ammunition for Soviet anti-aircraft guns. The subject is the ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" and ZU-23. This is reported by Tribune India.
The request for information is the first step in the procurement process. Proposals can be submitted by private and state-owned enterprises. The ammunition is intended for short-range air defense systems.
About the ZSU-23-4 "Shilka"
The Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, which began mass production in 1964, the ZSU-23-4 "Shilka", is armed with a quad automatic 23-mm cannon.
The rate of fire of the self-propelled gun is 3,400 rounds per minute. It is aimed at the target manually, semi-automatically, and automatically. In automatic and semi-automatic modes, the standard radar is used.
About the ZU-23
The Soviet twin anti-aircraft gun was adopted in 1960. Production of the ZU-23 was established in the USSR, as well as in Egypt, Iran, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Finland.
The rate of fire of the ZU-23 is 2,000 rounds per minute, the firing range is 2,500 m. The unit can be transferred from the stowed position to the combat position in 30 seconds.
