Last year, the Russian automotive industry achieved significant success. And, as expected, AvtoVAZ became the leader in this field. The company not only resumed production of popular models, but also managed to provide import substitution of key security systems. In addition, AvtoVAZ launched mass production of an electric car. Kaliningrad "Avtotor" also presented its electric car, and the Atom startup was actively preparing to release its first model. In this collection, we have collected all the new models of Russian manufacturers for 2024.
Legendary return
In 2024, we finally waited for the return of the updated Vesta NG model, but no longer from Izhevsk, but from Togliatti. Production was moved to the main AvtoVAZ plant.
The car replaced the safety systems with domestic analogues, and also returned all modifications to the assembly line, including the new Sportline, which replaced the departed Vesta Sport.
In addition, AvtoVAZ began production of a new 1.8 Evo engine in combination with a Chinese variator.
The newest business sedan
Aura is another derivative of Vesta. The sedan was taken as a basis, but it was lengthened to increase the space in the cabin. At the same time, there was more space in the second row, since the car is intended for officials who travel with a driver.
Compared to the standard Vesta, the Aura wheelbase has become 25 cm longer. The list of options for comfort has also been expanded, and the interior is decorated with genuine leather.
Mass production of Lada Aura began in early October 2024 at a plant in Togliatti. At the moment, this is the most expensive AvtoVAZ model with an internal combustion engine. Prices start from 2.6 million rubles.
Lada Largus of Izhevsk assembly
From mid-2022 to spring 2024, Largus production was suspended. Since the fall of 2023, AvtoVAZ has been transferring the assembly of the entire family from Togliatti to Izhevsk. During this time, more than 1200 units of equipment were transported, installed and launched.
The cost of the transfer amounted to about 2 billion rubles, which is twice as much as the cost of transferring Vesta from Izhevsk to Togliatti.
Currently, Izhevsk produces both commercial vans and passenger wagons for 5 and 7 seats, including the Cross version.
The first electric car in the modern history of Lada
"The first Russian electric car with a domestic battery of deep localization" - this is how e-Largus is described in AvtoVAZ.
In late September 2024, mass production of electric vehicles began, and several dozen "green" cars rolled off the assembly line before 2025.
e-Largus is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 120 kilowatts (163 horsepower) and two lithium-ion batteries. The cost of the car is 3.9 million rubles. However, thanks to government subsidies, the price of the model is reduced to 2.9 million rubles.
Power and speed
At the end of 2024, AvtoVAZ announced the launch of mass production of Lada Niva Sport. Finished cars will be delivered to the subsidiary Lada Sport LLC, which will be engaged in the individual assembly of each copy.
Niva Sport differs from the usual Niva Legend in suspension and brake settings, as well as the engine. The basis is a 16-valve 1.6 unit from Granta Sport, the power of which has been increased to 122 horsepower and 151 Nm of torque.
According to preliminary data, the cost of a sports SUV will be from 2 to 2.5 million rubles. The car will go on sale in 2025.
Xcite X-Cross 7
At the end of spring 2024, production of a crossover under the new Russian brand Xcite began on the territory of the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg.
The model was named X-Cross 7, where the number "7" indicates the Chinese car that served as the donor for this model.
The production of X-Cross 7 is carried out by the method of large-node assembly: bodies are manufactured and painted in China, as well as nodes and aggregates are produced. However, before being sent to Russia, all components are not assembled into a finished car, but disassembled and sent in containers separately.
All components arrive in St. Petersburg in containers: engine, body, chassis and other parts.
Xcite X-Cross 8
In September 2024, the debut of the second model of the Xcite brand took place - a larger crossover, which is available with both front and all-wheel drive.
The production of X-Cross 8 is carried out using the same technology as X-Cross 7. However, X-Cross 8 differs from its predecessor not only in the presence of an all-wheel drive version, but also in the presence of a third row of seats.
Both models - Xcite X-Cross 7 and X-Cross 8 - are sold through the Lada dealer network.
Moskvich 8
The new model of "Moskvich", which was supposed to enter the market in 2024, did not actually manage to go on sale. However, assembly began in the fall, and all the characteristics of the car were revealed.
This is a seven-seater crossover, which, like other models of the brand, is an analogue of the Chinese JAC X8 Plus. The Moscow plant will produce one version of the "eighth" with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 174 horsepower. The engine works in tandem with a seven-speed robotic gearbox. The drive is only front.
Prices and the start of sales are expected in February 2025.
Amber A5
The Kaliningrad "Avtotor" also has its own electric car, which was named A5. This is a sedan with an electric motor with a capacity of 160 horsepower, installed on the front axle. The electric motor is powered by a battery with a capacity of 60.2 kilowatt-hours.
On a single battery charge, the electric car is able to travel up to 520 kilometers. According to official information, A5 was developed as part of technological cooperation with a foreign partner. However, in fact, the Chinese JMEV Yi was taken as a basis, for which some components were localized.
The cost of the electric car is 3,399,000 rubles. It can be purchased, for example, on Wildberries.
Gadget on wheels
The Atom electric car, which Moskvich will soon begin to produce, is almost ready. The developers presented a serial body and revealed information about the technical characteristics.
Atom will be equipped with a permanent magnet electric motor with a capacity of 204 horsepower. The battery capacity will be 77 kilowatt-hours, which will allow you to drive up to 500 kilometers without recharging.
The car will be equipped with a complex of ADAS 2+ systems with 18 functions. Among them are autonomous parking, lane keeping system, adaptive cruise control and emergency braking.
Recall that in 2024 the most popular cars were Lada, Kia and Hyundai brands. In the overall sales structure, domestic cars occupy a significant share: the LADA brand represents 15% of the total number of transactions, followed by Kia with 9%, Hyundai with 7%, as well as Volkswagen and Toyota, each of which has 6%.
