Russia needs to significantly increase the number of full-scale flight tests of new ballistic missiles. This opinion was expressed to mk.ru by military expert Ilya Kramnik.
He thus commented on the test launch of the heavy intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) RS-28 Sarmat, information about which appeared online.
Kramnik recalled that the RS-20 Satan missile, the first modification of the Sarmat, was tested in the USSR from 1973 to 1976, with 43 missiles launched during the tests. Seven launches were unsuccessful.
Between 1977 and 1979, 19 launches of the next modification, R-36M UTTH (15A18), were carried out during testing, two of which were unsuccessful.
Kramnik noted that in order for the missile to be accepted into service, it is necessary to perform at least 6-7 successful launches in 3-4 years.
The number of test launches needs to be increased and no expense should be spared. Shoot more, checking each significant addition or change with a launch, and shoot more often, 4-5 items per year, or better 7-8, and not once every six months, so that problems don't creep in.
RS-28 Sarmat is a Russian liquid-fueled heavy-class missile. According to experts, it is capable of delivering a multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle weighing up to 10 tons to any point in the world, either through the North or South Pole. The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that it has the longest range in the world.
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the new complex has the highest tactical and technical characteristics and is capable of overcoming all modern missile defense systems. The characteristics of the missile make it possible to fundamentally expand the range of its combat equipment, both in terms of the number of warheads and in terms of types, including planning hypersonic warheads.
Earlier, www1.ru wrote that Russian soldiers on the front lines began to use a flamethrower drone. This is their own development, which is a fairly simple but effective system.
