AvtoVAZ has received vehicle type approval (OTTS) for Lada Vesta and Lada Aura with Euro-6 emission standard engines. This was reported by Avito Auto magazine. Currently, both models are equipped with Euro-5 engines.

The 1.5-liter engine will develop 120 hp instead of the current 106, and the 1.8-liter engine will develop 132 hp instead of 122. The increase is 14 and 10 hp, respectively. Earlier, the same units were certified for the Lada Azimut crossover. AvtoVAZ expects that the transition to new engines will improve dynamics and reduce fuel consumption. The updated models are expected to enter the market by the end of 2026.
An increase in power when switching to a stricter environmental standard is a rare combination. Usually, Euro-6 requires additional catalysts and electronics, which adds weight and cost. AvtoVAZ promises not only dynamics but also economy. For the buyer, this means that Vesta and Aura will become more agile without an increase in fuel consumption. For the market, it means that the domestic automotive industry is closing the gap with competitors in terms of ecology without sacrificing performance.
